3. The Meaning of Family
After reflecting on the situation, Dylan realized something very clear.
The person who had guided him, supported him, and helped him become the person he was today had always been his father, Greg. Their relationship had been built on years of care, trust, and shared experiences.
Rather than focusing on difficult questions about the past, Dylan decided to move forward with gratitude for the life he had built and the lessons he had learned.
Inspired by his journey, Dylan expanded his company by launching a new initiative called The Backbone Project. The program was designed to support young people who needed mentorship, guidance, and encouragement while building their own futures.
Through this initiative, Dylan hoped to give others the same sense of support and opportunity that his father had given him.
For Dylan, the experience reinforced a powerful belief:
Family is not defined only by history or documents. It is shaped by the people who show up every day, offer guidance, and help us grow.
And in Dylan’s life, that person had always been his father.
