Part 4 — After the Collapse
The ceremony didn’t continue.
It ended.
Not with marriage.
With truth.
Oliver left furious, shouting, trying to save something already destroyed.
But the damage wasn’t emotional anymore.
It was public.
Irreversible.
People don’t forget what they see clearly.
Especially betrayal.
Inside, the guests slowly left in silence.
Some hugged Sharon.
Some apologized.
Most just understood.
Rachel stood beside her.
“You okay?”
Sharon looked at her children.
Harry confused but safe.
Mika holding her hand.
Selena watching quietly like she already knew.
“Yes,” Sharon said.
“For the first time in a long time… yes.”
Later that night, they didn’t have a wedding reception.
They had dinner.
A small diner.
Pancakes. Fries. Chocolate pie.
And laughter.
Real laughter.
Not performance.
Not survival.
Life.
Selena looked at her quietly.
“Are you sad?”
Sharon thought for a moment.
“Yes.”
“Because of him?”
“No.”
She squeezed her hand.
“Because I almost believed him.”
Selena nodded.
“But you didn’t.”
Sharon smiled slightly.
“No. I chose you.”
And in that moment, nothing else mattered.
