Part 5 — The Morning After the Wedding That Never Happened
The world didn’t explode after the ceremony.
It just… continued.
That was the strangest part.
Sharon woke up the next morning in a quiet house that still smelled faintly like flowers and perfume from the day before.
But everything felt different.
Not broken.
Cleared.
Her phone was already full.
Missed calls. Messages. Unknown numbers. Voice notes she didn’t bother listening to.
Oliver had sent 17 texts.
The last one was different:
“You ruined everything. You’ll regret this.”
Sharon stared at it for a second.
Then blocked him.
No emotion.
Just action.
Downstairs, the kids were already awake.
Harry was watching TV like nothing had changed.
Mika was building something out of cereal boxes.
Selena sat at the table quietly, as if she was waiting for instructions from a world that suddenly made more sense.
“Mom?” Harry asked. “Are we still going to the beach next week?”
Sharon paused.
Then smiled softly.
“Yes.”
And something inside her tightened.
Because life wasn’t ending.
It was restarting.
